Wasan Jajou 12. April, 2022. If you are considering getting a professional ear wax cleaning or hearing test, I HIGHLY recommend Evear Hearing! My mom experienced ear pain recently, that was getting progressively worse. I suggested getting a proper ear wax cleaning. After a quick search, Evear came up. I called & Steve, the owner picked up. He was so patient & explained all the details. He was funny and friendly & took his time. The price seemed very reasonable! We booked an appointment with Vittoria at the Mississauga clinic by the water.
As soon as we arrived, we loved the location: big, bright & clean. Vittoria was so lovely, kind & patient. She explained every step to us & began cleaning my mom's ear. She constantly checked how the water temp & pressure was & if my mom was ok to proceed. We decided we'd come back for another appointment to clean out the rest of the wax, as there was some resistance. We scheduled again & once again Vittoria was so lovely. This time the remainder of the wax was removed. With the state of the art tech there, we were able to see the inner ear & what was stuck there. It was also very satisfying to see what was being cleaned out of the ear! Thank God it was just some (slightly resistant) wax that had hardened on top of a more liquidy wax, and nothing more serious.
We are now headed back for my mom's ear test, this time to the Brampton location. This is all part of the initial appointment we paid for & were not charged further at the last appt to remove the remaining wax, or for today's hearing test. Vittoria was just wise to see it needed to be approached in stages. I really appreciate how places treat me, but more so how they treat my family. You are in great hands here, as they are ethical & not trying to take advantage.

How much time does a hearing test take?
It usually takes about 45 to 60 minutes. We ask you about your medical history and noise problems you are facing to determine possible cause of hearing loss. It takes about 20 minutes for comprehensive audiological assessment and after that we explain you the results.
What is the cost of the hearing device?
To determine the device cost we consider a few factors like level of hearing loss, size/shape of ear canal, personal hearing needs/concerns and finances. The price can range from 1000$ for the most advance hearing device. The device is available in any size for 5 level of technology. The best hearing device for you will be determined by your audiologist after assessment and consultation with you.
After I have received my hearing devices, how long do I have to decide whether or not they are suitable for me?
It takes a while to get used to the hearing device. Your ear and brain adapts to the hearing differently. The device is fine-tuned based on your routine and listening situations. We offer a 30 days trial period.
My mother had hearing aids & hated them. How has technology changed?
Technological advancement has completely changed today’s hearing devices. The technology can sense the difference between sounds and noises in noisy situations such as crowded places.
Even though the natural hearing cannot be replaced, people with moderate hearing loss can hear better in noisy situations than normal people due to the advance technology. The hearing devices are customised according to your needs.
The device has a computerised chip which analyses your listening environment when you are using them.
What are 'open-fit' or OTE hearing devices?
Open-fit hearing devices are the most comfortable devices. They have changed perception and acceptance of hearing devices. They are better than traditional hearing devices.
Most people don’t even feel them inside their ear after a few hours.
The sounds you will listen will feel more natural and not mechanical. To determine if theses devices are suitable for you an audiological assessment is done.
Do I need to wear two hearing devices?
It is best to use two hearing devices when there is enough hearing loss in both ears. About 90% of the patients need hearing devices for both ears.
Our tests will determine how much more clearly you could hear if you had two ears as compared to one. Cost is the main reason why people don’t use two hearing aids. There is a reason why we are born with two ears.
Because we have two ears, we can localise sounds and determine their source. To distinguish between different sounds and those that resemble speech, the brain also needs data from both ears. One hearing aid user frequently experiences faster loss of speech recognition in the unaided ear if it is not activated. One ear simply cannot function as well as two ears.
I want the hearing devices that get rid of background noise. Which ones are those?
Understand that there are NO hearing aids that can entirely block out background sounds. Certain noises must be heard for safety purposes (i.e. a car zooming by as you start to walk across the street). No technology is intelligent enough to know what you want and don’t want to hear.
However, hearing aids with directional microphones and hearing aids with advanced sound processing skills can both significantly enhance the ability to hear in noisy environments. Hearing aids with directional microphones will help you concentrate on noises that are four to five feet in front of you by reducing the amount of sound that you actually hear behind you.
Consider this in a restaurant or social setting. Even with normal hearing, we must face the person we are speaking to in noisy environments in order to hear them. Digital hearing aids with advanced sound processing are improving rapidly their ability to distinguish between speech-like sounds and other noises. The clarity of speech-like sounds has been improved by increased enhancement.
